Goodland recently completed The Preserve at District 56 in Elk Grove.  Here, Goodland took a 28 acer piece of property and turned it into a community asset.  A 4.3 acer lake with scenic overlooks highlights a playground and fitness arena. 1.2 miles of hiking trail, covered picnic areas, and and benches throughout provide places to take in the scenery.  Heritage trees that were saved during construction along with newly planted wildflowers, plants and grasses native to the area provide habitat for local wildlife.  Since construction, The Preserve is now host to incredible amount of biodiversity that can be seen on a leisurely stroll or jog.
